Webinar to ‘Understand gene-edited rice and its implications’

Event Abstract – Union Govt has recently announced gene-edited rice varieties. This webinar will help us understand gene editing in context of agriculture, and focus on gene-edited rice varieties and its implications.

The speakers for the webinar are – 

Dr KrithikaYegna (earlier Gokulnath) is a biotechnologist – having studied Botany and Plant Biotechnology in B.Sc at Women’s Christian College. She worked as a post doctoral researcher at Centre for Biotechnology, Anna University, Chennai and served as visiting faculty there. She received Women Scientist Fellowship (WOS-A) from Dept of Science & Technology, Govt of India. She had a brief stint as a scientist at the Institute for Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), Bangalore.

Soumik Banerjee –  He is an independent Researcher and Practitioner of Agro-ecology & Heirloom Seed Conservation. He is currently engaged in conservation research of Indigenous varieties & Landraces of field crops through Field Conservation with farmer groups in eastern & central India.
