Submissions for Back to Our Future are still open—and we’ve just released a brand-new video teaser to celebrate!
If you’re a filmmaker, artist, scientist, or storyteller, we want to hear your vision of how ancient water knowledge can inspire today’s climate and water solutions.
Back to Our Future – Arid Lands and Ancient Hydro-Technologies is a short film competition hosted by Let’s Talk About Water and the Global Network of Water Museums.
THEME
We invite short films exploring ancient water culture and systems—such as aqueducts, qanats, stepwells, and fog catchers—to show how traditional knowledge can address today’s global challenges.
FORMAT
Submit a 3–5 minute short film including fiction, documentary, animation, or experimental.
KEY DETAILS
Deadline to submit: 15 September 2025
$10,000 in prizes
Winners announced on November 5th, 2025, at the International Conference of the Global Network of Water Museums meeting in Brasilia, Brazil.
