Decolonising Conservation – Returning to the Ways of the Earth
17 July @ 8:00 am – 1 August @ 5:00 pm IST
Dear Community,
Decolonising Conservation – Returning to the Ways of the Earth
A 6-session online course by Sacred Earth Trust with experts and community leaders
What if contemporary conservation moved beyond colonial frameworks and extractive development models, to be reimagined through ecology, spirituality, community, cultural memories, and Earth-based worldviews rooted in the Indian subcontinent? At a time of interconnected ecological, social, economic, health and spiritual crises, a radical re-imagining is necessary that is rooted in belonging, connection and care for both our human community and the more-than-human world.
This course is not about minimising the work of conservation, science or law. It acknowledges what Indian conservation has achieved, while asking what it must now become.
Decolonising Conservation explores how conservation in the Indian context can move toward a more rooted practice shaped by ecology, community, culture, indigenous knowledge and sacred relationships with the living Earth.
