PMC’s rooftop organic terrace garden project inaugurated in Kalyani Nagar’s Joggers Park

Under Swachh Survekshan 2022, the wet waste management at source initiative to promote home composting, Pune Municipal Corporation’s Vadgaon sheri ward office took an initiative to develop a rooftop terrace garden at the Joggers Park in Kalyani Nagar. More than 35 pots have been created at the organic garden, where members of the Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar and Kalyani Nagar Organic Garden Group jointly took off the initiative involving local residents.

The initiative also saw participation of members of Vadgaon sheri paryavaran group. The initiative was launched by Yogesh Mulik, corporator, Vadgaon sheri. The initiative was launched on February 26, 2022.

Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar’s 40 members and Vadgaon sheri ward office’s DSI Anil Dole, Mukund Gham, Avinash More, Manoj Deokar, Uday Salunkhe and Ganesh Rananaware were present. The project will give detailed information on how to effectively manage waste at the source.

The initiative has participation of over 221 members of Kalyani Nagar Organic Garden Group, 31 members of Vadgaon sheri paryavaran group too who contributed by giving away plants grown in their individual homes in organic compost. The members shall also impart training on how to create organic terrace garden to those who have keen interest. The project shall remain open for understanding of the working of the organic terrace garden.

The visitors book at the center will help visitors record their contact information so that the volunteers associated with the group can communicate with those showing keen interest in setting up such beautiful organic garden. Yogesh Mulik, corporator assured that he shall soon arrange for a shredding machine for this initiative.
