Plate Politics: Food Immersive Journey
26 November @ 8:00 am – 2 December @ 5:00 pm IST
Invite you to an immersive journey around food called Plate Politics: “ Food choices today, impacts health of both ‘People and Planet’ tomorrow”. It is being hosted from 26th November to 2nd December at Matar, Ahmedabad-Gujarat, by Youth Alliance along with farmer-educator Purvi Vyas to explore the social, historical, economic, political, and environmental contexts of our food system from local to global scales.
|Read the blurb for the journey here:One does not have to be a foodie to acknowledge that the Indian food scene has changed dramatically over the last two decades. As our knowledge, information and ideas around food are changing, we are in fact, getting further and further away from our food. We do not always know where our food comes from, who grows it or how. We are beginning to see food as a utility tool. For food processing companies that are producing our food it is just a commodity. For them, it is only about making profits for the processors. |
One of the most important thing in our lives is the food that we eat and feed our family to keep them healthy. However, this simple act is not easy anymore.
Youth Alliance and Purvi Vyas have come together to share our passion for food and show people how easy, fun and empowering it is to take control over the food we eat.
Our choices, when it comes to eating, have more power than we realize. What we eat is not just personal; it is political and of great consequence to the communities in which we live- local, regional, national, and even global.
A healthy food supply will be a defining issue of our times. What dietary choices are truly the most sustainable when we consider that what we eat affects not just our health but, also, the environment and the well-being of others!
Let us explore our food choices. What we eat matters!
