Millets – Securing Lives made by Peter, Kewekhrozo Thopi, Tshenyilou Churhah and Vozoli Khamo of the North East Network from Assam explains how the locals look at millets and how important they are, if consumed regularly, for keeping good health.   38. Back to Strength – The millet story of Daringbadi, Kandhamal, Odisha. The local tribal people believe that the most nutritious food (including Millets, Kangu and Kueri) has almost been lost. And those foods which we are forced to consume contain poison. And as a result, various diseases have impacted them, and there is food insecurity and increased malnutrition. An initiative started by ‘Jagruti’ a local NGO shows how the traditional methods of farming can once again be revived and restored in these times of changing climatic conditions.   44. Organic Farmer’s Market: A CSE Initiative. On 30 Jan. 2016, CSE organised an Organic Farmers’ Market at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi. Here is a video report. CSE has been a strong advocate of what we call ‘good food’ – food that is good for nature (rich in biodiversity), nutrition (not junk food and without poisons) and livelihoods (where local people derive benefits). The Miracle Water Village narrates the inspirational story of impoverished farming community of Hivare Bazar in Maharashtra that reversed its fortunes through its visionary model of water management.   61. Video clip on the Third Mother Earth Festival held in Meghalaya in December, 2012. Every December, indigenous communities of North East India host the Mother Earth (Mei Ram-ew) Festival that is celebrated by hundreds of other communities around the world on the same day. Held adjacent to the sacred grove in Mawphlang, Meghalaya, participants showcase more than 200 edible plants that can be seen and tasted during the food festival.   64. Bhimarao Patil, a small landholder (2.25 acres) of Jalgaon district in Maharashtra, has practiced organic farming for 10 years, with no help other than that from his wife. The entire video film Local Food of Nongtraw Village was made and edited by some 50 community members of the Indigenous Partnership for Agrobiodiversity and Food Sovereignty, East Khasi hills, Meghalaya.
