A young boy in Varanasi’s Rustampur village has invented a solar air cooler in water pitcher. Kamlesh Maurya’s unique creation is meant for the people with limited means of living. Maurya is also planning to launch his invention in the main market.

The boy is pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering and his dream is to use his one-of-its-kind invention for the benefit of poor. He says that the air-cooler cum refrigerator will help save electricity in the country.

The device is equipped with a 5 volt solar plate and a pump to circulate the water within the pitcher. Another electric motor is used to run the fan inside the air-cooler. The motor is powered by solar energy obtained from the solar panels. The pump circulates the water on the walls of the pitcher, thereby keeping it cool. The device is also equipped with a water purifier that helps to keep the water clean.

The entire assembly was manufactured at a nominal cost of Rs.800.
